Welcome to HeadJam - your home for Biology and Chemistry tuition at GCSE and A Level.
At HeadJam, we're passionate about helping young people get the grades they're capable of. Whether you're getting to grips with GCSE Chemistry or wrestling with A Level Biology we know exactly what examiners are looking for - because we've marked the papers ourselves.
That examiner insight sits behind everything we do, from the way we explain a tricky concept to the way we teach students to structure an answer that actually picks up the marks.
We know some topics are harder than others, and that sometimes a bit of extra support goes a long way. That's why we offer one-to-one alongside small group GCSE and A-Level tuition. Every session targets the content and exam skills that make the biggest difference to your grade, so you walk into your exams feeling genuinely prepared, not just hopeful.
Whether you're a student wanting to feel more confident going into your exams, or a parent looking for the right support, we’d love to hear from you.

Hi, I'm Alex.
Over the past 13 years I've helped thousands of students achieve top GCSE and A-Level Chemistry grades. I spent nearly a decade in secondary schools as a Science Teacher, Head of Chemistry and then Head of Science, and now tutor students one-to-one and in small groups. I also work as a GCSE chemistry examiner.
I write Chemistry revision content including revision notes, practice questions and videos for Save My Exams, whose resources are used by over 2 million students worldwide every month.
Alongside this, I share exam tips and model answers on TikTok as @chemwithbren.

Hello, I'm Ruth.
I'm a Biology specialist and have been teaching and tutoring since 2010, with classroom experience across all three sciences at GCSE and Biology to A Level. I've also worked as an examiner, marking real student exam papers, so I know first-hand how marks are won and lost, and I teach my students to answer questions the way examiners want to see them.
I also write Biology content, including revision notes and exam-style questions, for Save My Exams. So while my specialisms are AQA A Level and Edexcel IGCSE Biology, I'm working across many different specifications and mark schemes every day, and know what each exam board expects.
My sessions are warm, patient and completely judgement-free, there's no such thing as a silly question.
Testimonials
Found Alexandra on TikTok and thought I'd give her a try as my son was scoring a grade U in chemistry. Alex started tutoring my son three weeks before his GCSE. She was a game changer! My son managed to get a grade 6 in his GCSE chemistry. Would highly recommend as her teaching is unmatched.

Over the last 18 months, Ruth has really helped both my confidence, understanding and ability in Biology. Ruth is very experienced and her knowledge, teaching techniques and understanding of the curriculum, are excellent for tutoring Biology at any level. My journey with Ruth started before my GCSEs and I have continued with her throughout my A level Biology….and I hope I can take her forward to support my undergraduate journey too!

Alex has been an absolutely oustanding chemistry tutor for my daughter. Thanks to her clear explanations and personalised teaching approach, my daughter went up two grades in her GCSE chemistry. Alex was always patient, encouraging, and made difficult concepts much easier to understand. She also helped boost my daughter's confidence which made a huge difference in her exam performance. I highly recommend Alex to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and supportive chemisty tutor!

I felt my attitude towards biology improve in just our first few sessions, giving me the confidence to answer exam questions that I didn’t have previously. Long term, sessions together made an increasingly consistent change in my grades that I never thought would happen before I started tutoring, and prepared me immensely for my final exams
